Upgrading Blog to WordPress 2.7 RC 1
2008 December 3
by Dave Schumaker

I like to live life on the bleeding edge. To celebrate, I just upgraded the back end blogging software from WordPress 2.6.5 to Wordpress 2.7 Release Candidate 1. Hopefully everything will work well on this end. For the most part, readers shouldn’t notice any differences. The back end software makes it easier for me to manage the website and other potential contributors.
If anything seems amiss, do let me know!

I still use 6.3, I am lazy to upgrade it.
You should alway try to stay up to date with the latest stable releases (currently WP 2.6.5) due to security fixes and such. (I’ve been nailed by XSS exploits from out of date WordPress installs before.)
One thing I’ve found that makes it so SIMPLE to upgrade WordPress is the WordPress Automatic Update Plugin. It’s changed my life. Check it out!
It looks like WordPress 2.7 has this feature built in, so one no longer needs to use it once they upgrade.
