Geology Picture of the Day – The Bowl

Here is a great aerial photograph taken over Nevada of Weiser Ridge and a feature called “The Bowl.” Not too much information around that I can find about this area. I wonder if Silver Fox knows more about it? Though it looks like she’ll be gone for about a week.

Seems like it might be a pretty fascinating place to take a structural geology class.

I (she) haven’t ever heard of this feature and haven’t been there, although I’ve driven right by on I-15 at least once. I found out that there is a gypsum mine on Weiser Ridge, which appears to be located about due south of The Bowl in or near another, smaller bowl-like feature.
Great photo; very interesting. Hmm…
