Anyway, on to real geology news! Thanks to my friends for continuing to send interesting links my way despite not posting any interesting news to the site. One of the most intriguing things I’ve come across lately is the reports of a new island spotted near Tonga. Definitely some interesting volcanic activity going on there.
The last interesting “new” island I remember hearing about was Surtsey, near Iceland, that originally surfaced in 1963.
