After finding the skeletal remains of different animals, including a bear, the researchers named the cave system “Ursa Minor.” It is not yet known how extensive this cave system is.

Ice cores show evidence of climate change

Posted on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 @ 2:53 pm by Dave Schumaker

New ice cores drilled in Antarctica show evidence of human’s impact on climate change, say scientists from the British Antarctic Survey. The new ice cores go back 800,000 years and significantly extend our knowledge of paleoclimatic conditions.

The average CO2 concentrations in the air over the past 800,000 year were roughly 180 - 300 ppmv (parts per million by volume). Today, CO2 concentrations are at 380ppmv and have rapidly increased in the past 100 years.
